Upping the intensity of push-ups...

When Joe trains with you I've noticed when he does a push-up he lowers himself all the way to the ground.. Is this correct technique? What is the benefit of this kind of push-up? How can I up the intensity of a regular push-up?

Push-ups to the ground take the muscles through a full range of movement, the requirement to do this creates a greater demand on the muscles, nervous system and midline (core) for stability.A great pushup routine:With a continuously running clock do 1 pushup in the first minute, 2 in the second, 3 in the third and so on for 20 minutes, if you fail at any given minute go back to 1 and continue back up the ladder.
