How do I get myself motivated to start exercising?

I'm usually just at home and do no exercise. When I try to get up and do something with myself I get easily tired and just give up.

The first thing you should do is weigh up the cost of not changing. What will your life, body and overall health look like five years from now if you continue to avoid doing what you know you should? Sometimes creating lasting change (what we all want) is more about discipline, self-control, attitude, determination, accountability and commitment than it is about the feeling of motivation.

As contradictory as this might sound coming from a motivational bloke, you can’t always rely on motivation to get you there. Why? Because for most of us, motivation is an internal state (emotional, psychological) that comes and goes.

Having said all of that, a great way to create some initial momentum is to:

1. Get yourself an exercise buddy.
2. Use Trainer for a period of time.
3. Set yourself some short, medium and long-term goals.
4. Join a gym that has a great atmosphere and inspirational staff.
