How can I stay motivated and positive when I've hit a plateau?

I've currently hit a plateau in my weight loss, what training and motivation techniques can I use to conquer this?

Struggling to stay motivated is totally normal. Welcome to a very large club. Here are some suggestions for managing your internal state (staying focused and committed) and your body (staying productive):

1. Set yourself some exercise goals. Kind of obvious, but it works. Sometimes it’s good to focus on something other than the weight loss. The dropping number on the scales will then be a by-product of your new training habits and new focus.

2. Find yourself a trainer partner (friend, buddy) or even, a PT. It’s much easier to stay motivated and on-track when we’re sharing the getting-in-shape experience with someone else.

3. Train for an event. You don’t need to be a world class athlete to train for, and complete, an event. Completing a fun run, swim or beginner’s triathlon can often be the start of something life-changing and wonderful.

4. Keep in mind that there will be times when you’re simply not (particularly) motivated and that’s okay. That makes you human, not weak. It’s in these times that you need an accountability system – something to keep you doing what you should (to reach your goals), even when the ‘feeling’ of motivation is absent…
