Do you think it's important to keep setting goals for the future?

I have a decent job which I am happy in but can see myself in the same position in 10 years. I'm worried I may be too "comfortable" and not strive for anything higher. Do you think setting goals is important so we don't become too complacent and let ourselves go? Or do you think people have a tendency to keep pushing themselves when they don't need to?

The ultimate - and only universal goal - is happiness. If you’re genuinely happy in your job, you’re the exception and you should celebrate and appreciate where you’re at. We generally need to set goals along the way (big and small) with the various areas of our lives (health, saving, relationships, personal growth), but if you’re content where you are professionally, then I suggest that you enjoy the ‘now’ and think about moving on or changing when the happiness and contentment have been replaced with more negative emotions. With most of these issues there’s no (universal) right or wrong - only right or wrong for you.
